Fireworks in Belgrade: Can we shoot fireworks off in Belgrade to celebrate?

You CAN shoot off fireworks in the town of Belgrade, MT, BUT only during certain times of the year (around the 4th of July and New Years Eve). The dates and times that the city of Belgrade allows for the discharge of permitted fireworks are:

Between the hours of 10:00am and 11:00pm each day from July 1st to July 5th.
From 12:00pm to 1:00am on January 1st.

In addition to this, the city of Belgrade also orders that fireworks are not permitted to be discharged at any time in any city park or any proper owned by the Belgrade Public School District without specific permission from the city. The city of Belgrade also asks that people take the time to clean up all waste from the discharge of fireworks.

With a little longer drive you can get to great skiing at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky, go see bears and wolves in Yellowstone National Park, or drive in any direction to find blue-ribbon fishing in many of Montana’s great lakes and rivers. Montana has many great small towns to explore, but for us Belgrade is the epicenter of it all.

The “In Belgrade” posts will include information that we find out about Belgrade, Montana that both visitors and residents will find interesting. Noxious Weeds in Belgrade: Who’s in charge of keeping knapweed from spreading in our town?

Knapweed is a noxious weed that has began to creep all over southwest Montana and the Gallatin Valley, the town of Belgrade is no different. Being a noxious weed means is it is harmful to animals and the environment and the that city of Belgrade is attempting to control it. Specifically Belgrade City code states that “It is the responsibility of the property owner to remove, cut, or cause to be cut all noxious or other weeds, grass, or wild or uncared for vegetation on any such property, and upon and along any boulevard, road, street, avenue, or alley adjoining (their property).” Since knapweed grows in town, it means that the home owner must clean it up.

For small infestations and single plants, had pulling is effective. Just be careful not to disturb or spread the seeds. The city of Belgrade recommends that you place the plant in a plastic bag immediately after removal from the ground to prevent seed from spreading.

Snow Removal in Belgrade: Who’s responsibility is removing the snow on sidewalks in Belgrade

Not every neighborhood in Belgrade has sidewalks. We don’t have them where our house cleaning office is located; However, we wish we did. Sidewalks suggest fun and safety to us and our family. We’ve got a young son who will soon be riding a bike, and we really wish he could learn on a sidewalk in front of our house. Talk about a possible great memory! But there are plenty of houses in Belgrade that DO have sidewalks. But, when it snows, many of these walks get buried and only reappear in May. That’s too bad, and it’s against Belgrade city code.

Did you know that clearing snow from the sidewalks are the responsibility of the property owner to maintain, not the City? In fact, here are the specific rules related to property owners in Belgrade and their sidewalks:

Sidewalks must be cleared of snow by noon of the next day.
Snow cannot be moved or shoved onto the street or any public area or access. It should stay on your property.
There are fines and penalties for failure to shovel. The City of Belgrade charges a minimum of $60 to shovel, on top of this, you could be fined $25 to $50.
The property owner is also in charge of controlling ice on the sidewalk. If you’ve got ice, it’s you responsibility to use sand or deicer.
The city asks that you also clear any fire hydrants, handicap parking, or emergency access on, or near, your place.

If you have any questions about snow removal, the City of Belgrade asks that you call either Public Works at 406-388-3783 or the Community Services Officer at 406-388-3711.

Drinking Water in Belgrade: We have a safe and dependable supply of drinking water

There’s a small city with a rich mining history located 60 minutes to the west from Belgrade that has a few sayings when talking about their drinking water. The two most descriptive ones are “I like the crunchy texture of our water” and “Even though the tap water is brown, we drink it down”. Luckily, we in Belgrade don’t have to spend so much creative energy on slogans for our water. Simply put we’ve got good ol’ normal H2-O. A big deal for most people in the world, including our neighbors to the west! According to the Annual Drinking Water Quality Report done by the City of Belgrade, our drinking water is safe and meets federal and state requirements.

The three page report, which is available at Belgrade City Hall, has some great scientific information that we’re sure is important for meeting government regulations; however, we’re just focused on being the best house cleaners in Belgrade, so we didn’t take time to set run our own study and are going to take their word on it. However, while reading the report, we did find these tidbits to be interesting:

The City of Belgrade currently strives to provide safe and dependable water to 7,000 people.
The City does monitor for lead and copper, and our water is compliance with the Lead and Copper Rule; however, while the city of Belgrade is responsible for providing high quality drinking water, it cannot control for the variety of materials used in a house’s plumbing. The city of Belgrade recommends that when your water has been sitting for several hours, you can minimize the potential for lead exposure by flushing you tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.
The EPA has determined that you water is SAFE.
Important: If you have hard water stains on your window in Belgrade, you should call Maid to Clean MT to have a professional window cleaner wash your windows! Ok, this wasn’t actually in the report, but we think it should be.

Dogs in Belgrade: Picking up your pet and dog licensing information

We are Belgrade’s best house cleaner and part of the reason we are is because we love pets. We’re very pet friendly with our house cleaning and it doesn’t take long for us to get attached to your pets, and them to get attached to us too! The city of Belgrade, is pretty pet friendly. Many houses have large yards and almost all neighborhood parks allow dogs. However, the city of Belgrade does require the following when you have a dog in the city:

Dogs over 6 months of age that are kept within the city limits must be licensed annually. At the time of writing this post the fees were $20 for neutered dogs and $30 for unaltered animals. The owner is required to bring proof of the dog being neutered or spayed, along with rabies paperwork when going to city hall to get a dog licensed.
Dogs must be leashed when not on your property.
Owners are responsible for picking up their dog’s waste. Belgrade city code states that “it is unlawful for the owner or person in possession of a dog to fail to immediately remove any feces to a waste container if a dog defecates on public property, or on private property without the permission of the occupant.”

Fines for failure to pick up after you dog are $50 for the first offense and $100 for each offense thereafter.

Bozeman, MT: One of the FASTEST Growing Towns in the USA

As if you didn't know already, Bozeman has been discovered. Like it or not, people are now flocking to Bozeman for the fresh air, panoramic views, outdoor activities, quality of life, great schools and strong sense of community. The stats range some, but I've seen Bozeman ranked as high as 3rd and as low as 25th in the nation for small town growth.

Some see the trend as an exciting and well deserved honor for a town that has so much to love. Others simply see it as change that is bringing in growth and jobs, but also causing the town to stretch and change. While others see it as sign to pack up and move on, thinking that their sleepy town that was once a hidden treasure has been ruined. We at Maid to Clean MT can see fact in all three view points. We love the telling out of towner that we live here, and hearing the twang of envy in their voices as the share horror stories about their concrete jungles they call home. Work-wise we've never been busier with new construction cleaning for all the houses that are popping. Most of the times the requests don't change our prices or bid, but they do help us ensure that our customers are getting the best cleaning service in Belgrade and Bozeman. Here are some typical requests that you should hesitate to tell us when we meet to give you your first bid:

"I would like eco-friendly products" - Of course this is possible! We are familiar with a wide variety of cleaning methods and can meet your specific needs, just let us know what they are. If you prefer a particular brand or have an allergic reaction to a specific chemical, please let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate your needs. In fact, we've cleaned many of Bozeman homes with just water and vinegar, as requested by the homeowners.

"Can you get the laundry done too" - Maybe. Let us know you specific needs, and we can discuss if that is the scope of our house cleaning service. If it is just starting the machine, running a load or two, and folding, we can probably do this.

"Move-out cleaning/ Move-in Cleaning" - This is one our specialities. We started with this service and expanded, so YES we do move-in and move-out cleaning, and we do it really well. We'd put Maid to Clean MT up against any other cleaner in the Belgrade or Bozeman area as the best cleaners, we're that good. However, due to scheduling and workload we like to stay close to the Bozeman and Belgrade areas to do move-in and move-out cleaning. We've been known to stretch to Big Sky, Livingston, and Three Forks, but we're Bozeman's best cleaners... just saying.

"Will you move furniture or belongings" - Of course, we do a thorough job. This means taking the time to move things to properly clean.

"Bed needs to be changed every other week" - Remember that time you spent the night at that luxury resort where you thought you we're in a dream because the rooms were made up so neatly each day? We can that too, right in your very home. Just ask.

"Do you clean windows?" - Yes, Maid to Clean MT also does windows. This is typically an add-on service, but we have no problem getting your windows streak-free inside and out. We also remove hard water stains from windows.

"Fridge cleaning, Oven cleaning, Sink Scrub, Toilet Renewing, Bath Shine, Shower Scrape"- Yes, we do these services too. However, depending on how dirty or stained it is, it may take us more time to complete.

"Floor Stains: Food stains, Drink stains, Pet stains, Oil / grease stains." - When we give you a quote to clean your house and you show us a stain we usually offer to do a small sample area, to see if we can take it out. If you're happy with the results, then we can do the full stain.

L & L Site Services: Our Thoughts

After walking out to the alley after the big snow storm hit, I took this picture of the our garbage can burdened with snow. Then the next thing I did, was think about how nice it has been since I switched garage services. My can is no longer left tipped over or broken in the middle of the alley, and whenever contact them, it's always a friendly helpful person that picks up the phone. Since Maid to Clean MT is in the business going to someone's house and providing a service, we seem to have developed a keen eye for great costumer relations and efficient service. Both are qualities that L&L Site Services have shown us, and were the reasons we decided to ditch our old garbage service. Then to top it all off, L&L Site Services were cheaper.

What follows is an unsolicited review of L&L Site Services. We use them for our garbage service in the Belgrade area, and recommend them when doing newly remodeled cleaning or after moving cleaning, where the client has a lot of debris and needs to rent a dumpster. We're VERY happy with them and here's why we really like them:

They're Great On Customer Service:

Unlike our old garbage service, L&L Site Services are very easy to contact. You call them and a REAL person picks up. Even better, you can almost hear the same traffic sounds, as they're just a stone's throw away in Four Corners. So instead of getting a ridiculous phone tree of options that lead you further and further from real person, and then ultimately to a recorded voice that says "we'll (might) call you in the next 24 hours", a real life neighbor addresses all of your questions and concerns.

They're Great On Price:

Our previous garbage service provided us with a 48 gallon can for $61.35 billed on a quarterly basis. L&L Site Services charges us $63.00 quarterly for a 65 gallon can. While we have a small household and barely fill our can each week, there were plenty of times after a birthday party or Christmas when we got dinged by the other company for having an extra bag or two. Now with the bigger can, we won't have that problem.

They're Local, But Have No Problems With Bigger Projects:

As mentioned before, they're right down the road from us, and I'm not talking about some kiosk that serves as a relay station for a huge corporate office out of state. I'm talking local homegrown, like they love the Bobcats and fish the Gallatin after work, local. They're members of the local chamber of commerce and and provide services for the Belgrade Public Schools, a pretty big job. How To: Cut your own Christmas Tree in the local National Forest

Cutting your own family Christmas tree is a Bozeman family tradition for many of people; however, there are a few families that have heard of this, but don't know how to go about doing it. Well trust the Maid to Clean MT family, it is incredibly simple and a whole lot of fun! The official rules are outlined on the Forest Service's webpage (but be sure to scroll to the bottom to get to part about Christmas Tree Permits), but here's the idea.

You go to Murdoch's in Four Corners and ask the checker for a Christmas Tree permit. Then you pay $5 per tree, up to three trees. The checker will then have you sign a sheet that notes your permit numbers and that you've paid, and then you'll get an orange sticker for each tree you buy.

Then you can drive onto the public forest from any of many public access spots around town. Hyalite and Little Bear Cabin road are two very popular spots close to Bozeman . If you're NOT in a campground, at a trailhead, in a Wilderness Area, close to a stream, or at a spot that has been designated for a timber sale or reforestation planting, your free to find that perfect tree.

Here's a hint, there's no perfect tree, and that's the beauty of it. You get to walk around in the woods talking to your family about the which tree will work the best, is a tall and skinny lodgepole or a big bushy spruce. Your kids get some fresh air and a short lesson tree species and natural resources, and you and your husband or wife can dream about "one day" when you've got a house big enough for that 15 foot spruce over there.

Just remember these few things:

Dress warm.
Take a sled for the little ones to ride in.
Bring some snacks and hot chocolate.
Take lots of pictures.
Don't forget a saw.
Put the permit on the tree after cutting it.
